Something odd happened in a tournament my brother entered in today.
it was an average tournament they opened a number of boosters equal to the #of players placed them by stack in a row
with the the rarest card from the booster at the top of each respective stack.
first place got first pick of the stack second place got second pick so on and so forth
they opened 2 boxes for the tourney and there where 10 boosters left for sale
when the cards where counted they realized that one of those boosters had a RRR card inside it

THEN THE STRANGEST THING HAPPENED
The Tournament manager walked up and started hold each booster and inspected them for about 5 seconds each
and then proclaimed "This is the booster with the RRR 15 bucks and it's yours"
When one of the contestants bought It ,he opened it and sure enough a RRR card was inside
We were all mindfucked 0_0

Is this really possible? Is there some slight difference in boosters of RRR?

All triple R cards are foils. They are slightly bent and curved. So it's easy to feel the slight bump, since triple R cards are always at the back.

What a poorly worded thread. You don't only confirm myths, you also deny them. In this case, it's denied. If he did that completely based on a guess, he had a 3/30 or 1/10 chance to get it correct. That's not at all out of the realm of possibility for it to be pure chance. Also, there's a higher chance of finding RRRs and RRs just by feeling the package. Assuming he's pretty good at it (so that feeling always finds a foil, and ignoring the SP case), he'd have a 3/8 chance of picking an RRR out of all the foils in the set. Again, not at all out of the realm of chance.

There's no rhyme or reason to where the packs are put into the boxes and other than weighing them or being really good at feeling for stiffness, there's no way to distinguish foils. Even among those, you can't distinguish RRs from RRRs. I've confirmed what I stated multiple times when I started Vanguard because I heavily inspected packs with jewelry scales.

Yeah, its really easy to feel out Vanguard packs for rarity. Though it is ethically questionable, for obvious reasons, for him to feel it out and then sell it for 15 dollars.

Well to be fair,I always consider Myths denied, until confirmed...With some exceptions.

Whats the avg weight difference between a RR-RRR booster with your normal everyday booster?

So some of the posts here say that it's easy to feel it out,Is this common knowledge?
I wonder if the cardshops I go to will find it suspicious if I slightly check for bumps in each pack before buying it ;)
I can see it now ^_^
Sir,please pick faster we have other customers
Shhhh I'm sensing the Cards *_*

My local shop doesn't allow us to feel the packs anymore because we usually get the foils.

Okay that's good.

Also approximately a tenth of a gram. I can't get anymore accurate since that's the scale type I used (tenth). Using a hundredth scale can throw you off since individual packs might slightly weigh more and it might trick you into throwing things in the wrong pile, so you get a tenth scale and let it truncate for you. While they differ by a tenth of a gram on average, do note that some rare packs differ among each other by the same amount. The trick is weighing an entire box with as few packs missing as possible, and sorting them by tenth weights (the gram weights themselves might be different from pack to pack too, hence the relative sorting and not weighing for a specific weight). Then always take the biggest pile if it adds up to eight.
