| Not trying to make everyone shift to a new card game or anything, but I just thought that it looks like a fun game to pick up and play every once and a while. Pretty sure it was mentioned in these forums in the past, as well. Any who, the game's called Z/X (Zillions of Enemy X, pronounced 'Zex'). Still a fairly new game, released back in July 27, 2012. Just pulling all of this from the wiki, so don't hurt me for any false facts if you're familiar with the game. This game seems quite similar to Vanguard in a few aspects. That being, a deck is constructed of 50 cards, a max of 4 cards with the same name is allowed in the deck, as well as the ability to mulligan (can only mulligan once, but you must mulligan your entire hand). Not to mention, the first one to get (or lose in this case) 4 cards in their 'damage zone' loses. Haven't read up on everything yet, but it certainly seems fun. What are all of your thoughts on this game? | |

| This actually doesn't go anywhere since it's not related to Vanguard in some way or the site. But I guess I won't delete the thread.
From what I've seen of Z/X, it seems closer to Duel Masters with a grid than Vanguard. Albeit a less broken and more interesting Duel Masters. | |

| 50 Cards (Z/X or Events) 20 Ignitons ("Triggers")
Z/X have Cost, Color & Power Events have Cost, Color
You start with 4 Life (which are represented by 4 cards from your deck) You start with 2 Resources (straight from the top of your deck)
You draw 4 cards at the start of the game. Draw 2 additional cards at the start of each additional turn. The player who goes first doesn't draw an additional 2 cards that turn but may attack.
When a Creature is destroyed or your life is attacked successfully. You move that card to charge. You can only have 4 cards max in your charge at any one time. (If you reveal an Ignition from your life this way, you may instead use it and then send it to the field if it's a Z/X or to the Thrash if it's an Event)
To attack life, you must first attack the Opponent's Z/X that is in their Player Square and then attack the Player Square directly. Players may play with a start card on the Z/X Square before the game begins (4500 if with an effect that activates in charge or 5000 if vanilla). You may also use a Player Card which is just a token but some cards may need them for abilities such as "Sword Sniper Rigel" who needs Chitose Aiba to gain Range Infinite.
Turn Order - Draw 2 Cards - Play a Resource (Mana/Land) - Perform an Ignition* - Play a Z/X or Event, Attack or use an Activate ability (you can play an Event or Activate ability during either Player's Main Phase)
*A Player performs an Ignition by moving 1 card from their Charge to their Thrash and revealing the top card of their deck, if it has an Ignition Icon (Scary Mask on the bottom left of the picture) they may play that card without paying its cost. A Player may perform an Ignition as many times as they have charge for a turn.
When a Player's deck depletes to 0 cards, they shuffle their thrash back into their deck, then they move one life to their charge (Ignitions may activate at this time).
Also, this might be useful information
Event Costs Range from 1 to 8. ZX Costs Range from 2 to 8. Ignitions are available at 2 & 3 only.
ZX that Costs 2 Power Range from 1000 to 3500 (3500 being Void Bringer) ZX that Costs 3 Power Range from 1500 to 5000 (5000 being Start Card or Life Recovery. 5000 being standard Vanilla) ZX that Costs 4 Power Range from 4000 to 6500 (6500 being standard Vanilla) ZX that Costs 5 Power Range from 6500 to 8000 (8000 being standard Vanilla) ZX that Costs 6 Power Range from 6000 to 9500 (9500 being standard Vanilla) ZX that Costs 7 Power Range from 8500 to 10500 (No Vanillas) ZX that Costs 8 Power Range from 8500 to 10000 (No Vanillas)
There is lore to it as well, the modern world is being invaded by 5 separate futures all trying to ensure their own future becomes (stays?) a reality. The game is aimed at 16+ and there will be an Anime soon.

| I've been looking at this game all week and it seems pretty balanced. I tried to buy a starter deck but they're like 50 dollars on amazon! | |

| Etna's a ho. Perfectly suited for black. The only thing to fear is whether or not Pleinair makes it in. No other cameo can usurp Asagi. | |
